I believe involving parents and caregivers in the counselling process is crucial for a collaborative, supportive, and safe therapeutic environment for children and young people.
In counselling children and young people, I will:
- Respect their autonomy by allowing them to choose whether their caregiver attends sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality unless there are concerns about their safety.
- Promote and encourage open communication to enhance understanding, strengthen relationships, and cultivate a supportive family environment.
I ask caregivers to:
- Request individual sessions to discuss matters that may not be suitable for
the child or young person's session.
- Share insights into the challenges faced by the child or young person and their family
- Provide emotional support to the child or young person, fostering validation and understanding.
- Highlight positive changes and skills learned to reinforce progress and encourage continued growth.
- Be open to learning ways to support the child or young person’s wellbeing.

Reduced fees for Mental Health Care Plan referrals are available upon request for those on income support, with a session fee of $127 (rebate $85, out-of-pocket $42).
Parent sessions are offered at $140 for a 50-minute session. Please note, if you would like to discuss matters that are not suitable for your child or young person, I ask that you request a parent session.
